Career powerpoint research

Secondary research

Looking on the internet for a media related job i came across the website containing guardian jobs, on there i found a section containing media jobs and I there I searched for Radio. On this website I found a job and it gave me a lot of information containing what the job would involve and the qualifications I would need to get onto that job.

Non ICT

Once i found the job that i wanted on the guardian jobs website i went down to the college library to find many books about key skills, and radio. In the book Radio Skills of the media section it helped me to find out the kind of attitude you need to work in the industry and what radio is entitled.

Non ICT research – Marketing

I found some great informatin in the book ‘BTEC Introduction business’. Here is some of the information I came across; A market is generally understood to be a location in which goods and services are bought and sold. In reality, all markets are imperfect, with some buyers and sellers having an advantage. The marketing function involves identifying and satisfying customer needs and wants by carrying out market research and promoting new products.

Case study research

Non-ICT

During my trip to the library I came across some useful information on the research methods book about ethics. Here is some information that i found; Ethical concerns will emerge as you plan your research. Seek access to individuals, collect, analyse and report your data. In the context of research ethics refers to the appropriateness of your behaviour in relation to the rights of those who become the subject or your work, or are affected by it.

Secondary

Whilst looking on the internet for information about contractual issues i came across the following website http://www.wildsound-filmmaking-feedback-events.com/film_agreements.html. This helped me understand the importance of Cast and crew agreement forms including other information.

Primary

As a class we had a talk with Ben and Chris about the kind of films they have made and the kind of research that they carried out before. I used the information that they had given to me and made it relevant to my case study, for example when they said ‘Most professional production company’s use different people for different uses for example they usually have one person on rushes and EDL another on edit another on camera movement and another on light.’ this would mean that every single person that worked or helped out in the making of the film would have had to sign a form.

research – short film

http://www.imdb.com/ was the website that I found much information about a bafta nominated film i had chosen for an assignment. I found this website very helpful as it gave me details of how to contact someone that connects to the short film.

At the beginning of my course I made a short film, okay not it’s not the best of all short films but having only been on the course a few weeks myself I was proud! Looking back on it now I can see major mistakes, for example there are many jump cuts throughout and the audio was terrible making it very hard to hear. But i’m sure if I had the chance to do it again it would be much better. Also when the class had a talk with the Blaine brothers later on in the course it gave us a better insight on short films and how they prepare when making one, if we had the talk before it would have helped me have a better understanding and more knowledge of how to go into preparing for the short film whereas I had no clue. Now I know I could have made the script a tad better with making it more believable and more like a past experience as they said it helped them.
